Sustainability

We believe that sustainability and profitability go hand in hand.

At Sajan Group, we believe that sustainability and business success go hand in hand. As one of Bangladesh’s trusted names in pipes and fittings, we carefully evaluate how our operations impact the environment, economy, and society—our own version of the Triple Bottom Line.

Our focus on eco-friendly manufacturing isn’t just a corporate responsibility—it’s a commitment to the future. With advanced production facilities and efficient processes, we aim to reduce waste, lower emissions, and promote responsible resource use.

To support this, we’ve adopted Product Life Cycle Analysis (PLCA) as a core tool. This helps us measure the environmental footprint of our products at every stage—from raw material sourcing to end use—so we can make smarter, more sustainable choices that benefit our customers and the planet.

At Sajan Group, building a better tomorrow starts with every pipe we produce today.

Focus on Triple Bottom-Line Goals

Environmental

Financial

Social

At Sajan Group, we align our growth with the Triple Bottom Line—People, Planet, and Profit. We aim to create long-term value by caring for our communities, minimizing environmental impact, and maintaining sustainable profitability. From eco-conscious production methods to responsible workplace practices, every decision is made with a clear commitment to social responsibility, environmental care, and economic strength.

Environment, Social and Governance [ESG] goals are one of our key pillars of organisational progress:

Total carbon footprint lowered from 52,137 MT to 49,645 MT—a reduction of 1,052 MT (4.8%).

Emissions reduced from 0.395 kg to 0.387 kg CO₂ per kg of production—a 2.1% improvement.

Share of renewable energy rose from 10.71% to 15.96%, a 51% increase in just one year.

Rooftop solar PV generation grew by 128%, from 1.33 million kWh to 3.04 million kWh. Our total rooftop solar capacity now stands at 2.6 MW.

Wind energy procurement increased by 33%, from 5.95 million kWh to 7.93 million kWh.

Committed to Clean Energy and Environmental Responsibility

At Sajan Group, sustainability is not just a practice—it’s a principle. From sourcing raw materials to manufacturing and distribution, we operate with a clear goal: to protect the environment and support the communities we serve.

Environment conservation through carbon reduction, energy consumption, water & waste management

Key Environmental Initiatives
  • Carbon Reduction: We aim to reduce our carbon footprint by 5% annually through efficient processes and greener technologies.

  • Energy Efficiency: All machinery follows global energy-saving standards, and outdated equipment is phased out responsibly.

  • Water Conservation:

    • Water usage reduced by 3.9% year-over-year through employee awareness programs.

    • Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) capacity increased from 87 KLD to 205 KLD—a 136% improvement in water recycling.

    • All units operate as zero liquid discharge facilities.

    • Rainwater harvesting systems are installed at all locations.

Waste Management & Circular Economy
  • We’ve phased out lead-based chemicals and ozone-depleting substances from our operations.

  • ~99% of production waste is recycled in-house; the rest is safely handled by certified recyclers.

  • Detailed procedures for waste segregation, reuse, and treatment are followed across all plants.

  • We maintain an active Environmental Aspect Impact Register to track and manage our footprint.

Noise & Workplace Safety
  • All plants maintain noise levels within regulatory limits.

  • Ear protection gear is mandatory in high-noise zones like generator and compressor areas.

  • We follow strict safety guidelines to ensure a healthy and compliant work environment.

Prioritizing Safety and Well-being at Sajan Group

At Sajan Group, the safety and well-being of our employees are our highest priority. We adhere to industry-recognized best practices in health and safety across all our operations to create a safe work environment.

Building a Culture of Safety

  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is central to our operations, governed by an OHS Management System (OHSMS) certification. Additionally, each plant is supported by Safety Committees and led by trained safety professionals along with line managers who oversee safety standards.

  • We have introduced new safety performance metrics such as Lost Time Injury (LTI) and Accident-Free Days (AFD), benchmarked against global industry standards. These targets were successfully achieved in the 2021-22 fiscal year.

  • Our Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) initiative promotes a zero-accident culture by identifying and mitigating unsafe habits and environmental factors. Through Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), we actively assess potential risks and address them.

Employee Training and Awareness

We believe in continuous education to foster a safe and proactive work environment. Our employees undergo various safety and environmental training, including:

  • Daily Toolbox Talks (TBT) covering activity-related safety topics.

  • First Aid Training in collaboration with St. John Ambulance.

  • Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) training provided by external experts.

  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) awareness sessions for new employees.

  • HIRA and Environmental Impact Training to understand and minimize risks.

  • Fire Safety Training: Practical sessions on the use of fire extinguishers, hydrants, and other safety equipment.

  • Quarterly Mock Drills to practice emergency response protocols.

  • We also celebrate Environment Day and Safety Week through activities like slogan/essay/drawing competitions and tree plantation drives to further raise awareness.

Employee Wellness and Support

  • During the pandemic, we supported employees by assisting with COVID-19 testing and treatment options.

  • We continue to promote key health practices, such as physical distancing, wearing masks, washing hands, and using hand sanitizers, across multiple platforms.

  • Our employee wellness programs focus on physical, mental, and financial well-being, as well as disease prevention and ailment control.
